Agadir...

We actually left Agadir, but after 30 minutes of navigation, we found a rather violent swell and vertical waves and-especially-not oriented as expected. In summary, the waves were against us, surged and crashed on the hull, which hurts the boat and soak the crew ...

So we returned to Agadir.

We will probably  leave on Sunday morning. In any case, which is nice in this kind of port, is that the majority of boaters are travelers and they are also on the way to the American continent. Nice meetings, punctuated with stories, advices, and a shared love of the sea ...

I enjoyed the wind to rent a windsurf on the beach of Agadir, it was cool, I was alone but the wind dropped down just when I got in the water ... I'll try again on tomorrow ...

We left on Sunday afternoon, we had two good days of sailing and we stopped in Agadir, preferring to avoid the Canaries, to take food in Morocco. We finally had a favorable wind and the boat roared with pleasure, advancing nearly 10 knots on average with a peak of 15 knots. Record boat for the moment, the next will be 20 knots ...

The weather is good here, very good indeed, we feel we are moved towards southwest. 28 degrees, a nice breeze, ...

We will leave tomorrow normally to Cape Verde. 5 days navigation normally.

From Aguadulce, we had the chance to see dolphins every day.

Here is the latest video Aguadulce step-Agadir ... The next will be on the Cape Verde Normally, the first stop of the Beagle Darwin. And then the great voyage to Rio in Brazil ...

samedi 24 novembre 2012

On devrait repartir demain soir (dimanche).

Leaving Gibraltar on Thursday morning, we quickly reached the Atlantic, leaving Tarifa on the right and Tangier on the left. The dolphins came to wish us "good luck" (photo). We also briefly crossed a moon fish (but then I have no pictures). Then South along the Moroccan coast. Atlantic changes us from the Mediterranean ... No more short waves but a long regular swell that lulls us ... Goodbye Europe!

No more wind, we're expecting then it in Mohammedia (20 km away from Casablanca, where unfortunately there was no room for our boat) ... We should leave on tomorrow (Sunday).

Gibraltar...

We finally left Aguadulce yesterday morning and this morning we arrived in Gibraltar. British enclave in Spain, the approach was beautiful. Arriving at sunrise we discovered on the left Africa with the Moroccan coast and the bright lights of Tangier further, to the right the Rock of Gibraltar and forward the Atlantic Ocean. With all its promises ...

Navigation was beautiful. We were often accompanied by a pod of dolphins, day and night. I will make a video that speaks more than words, but in the meantime, here is an excerpt from my diary:

"Wednesday 2/11 - 1:34 AM

Night shift alone on the bridge. But I am far from being alone. Dolphins make me long visits by swimming under the bow a long time. A pale moon illuminates the night and I can see my new friends arriving in a graceful and rapid fluorescent swirls ... Then they swim under my feet in a choreography...

Music in the ears and dreams in my eyes, I smiled a lot that night, watching, fascinated, these fantastic animals.

Just 25 miles to Gibraltar and then the Atlantic ocean ...

I'm going to bed now, head full of images of green fluorescent dances, subtle ripples in the water world. I will sleep happy, knowing they play below my bed ... "

PS 1: If I speak of fluorescent colors, this is because the plankton in sea water becomes fluorescent once it is moved. Movements of dolphins become magical, they literally shine in the dark water, becoming more visible than in the day and giving to their swim a magical side. I tried to capture these moments on video but the cameras do not have objectives as perfect as the human eye. These memories will therefore only stay in my memory and in the attempt to describe that moment by the few words above. Fortunately for the cameras, they also came during the day (see video below).

PS 2: We're leaving on tomorrow morning for the Canary Islands. We should be there in 5 days. Atlantic opens its arms to us ...

Nouvelle vidéo sur l'escale forcée d'Aguadulce / New movie about the forced stop in Aguadulce

Here is a movie about what we did for getting busy in Aguadulce... The ordered parts of the engine just arrived today but to refix it will still be long... We should leave on Monday if everything is fine...

Concert in Aguadulce

On lie connaissance...

Waiting for the parts needed for fixing the engine, we get busy as we can. We meet people.. Last night I made a little concert in one of the bars of the port of Aguadulce : Samsara. Nice moment. And magical moment when a gypsy from here corner sat down to listen and he started mixing his voice to the sound of my guitar to tell a story ... Here's one part...

Les choses avancent... Doucement... / Things are moving... Slowly...

Failure finally identified! Now it's up to administrations to see if the warranty will pay or not ... So we still waiting but we hope to leave at the beginning of the next week ...

In the meantime, I have had the opportunity to go to see my friend Dani from my Erasmus in Bulgaria, as he leaves in the area ... 6 years after ... Still the same atmosfeer...

Frustrant !!

Here is the third video footage between Sete and Aguadulce (Andalusia - Spain). I promised more sun, there are full and colors, and birds and caught fish (a beautiful red tuna) and dolphins that came to a brief visit ...

So close to Gibraltar but still blocked by an engine failure ...  Frustrating !!

We are still awaiting the verdict of mechanical ... Things are moving slowly as it was a holiday in Spain on Thursday ... The boredom settles a bit anyway, as we want so much to sail again and all the days spenthere are fewer days in Patagonia. We hope that we will still arrive to Buenos Aires for Christmas. If we need to order parts for the engine, we could have to stay here until next Wednesday or Thursday ... Otherwise, I enjoyed the time off to go to a small diving. Unfortunately the visibility was not great, I think I'll prefer more exotic spots as the Galapagos ...

We still sleeps on the boat which is out of the water...
