La navigation a été magnifique. Nous avons été accompagnés souvent par un groupe de dauphins, la journée et la nuit. Je ferai une vidéo qui en parlera plus que des mots, mais en attendant, voici un extrait de mon journal de bord :
" Mercredi 2/11 - 01h34 AM
Quart de nuit en solitaire sur le pont. Mais je suis loin d'être seul. Des dauphins me rendent de longues visites en nageant sous l'étrave de longs moments. Une lune pâle éclaire la nuit et je peux voir mes nouveaux amis arriver dans un mouvement gracieux et rapide de tourbillons fluorescents... Ils nagent ensuite sous mes pieds dans une chorégraphie tout en courbes...
La musique plein les oreilles et les rêves plein les yeux, j'ai beaucoup souri cette nuit, observant, fasciné, ces animaux fantastiques.
Plus que 25 milles jusque Gibraltar et puis l'Atlantique...
Je vais me coucher maintenant, des images plein la tête de danses vertes fluos, ondulations subtiles dans cet univers aquatique. Je dormirai heureux, sachant qu'ils jouent sous ma couchette..."
PS 1 : si je parle de couleurs fluos c'est parce que le plancton présent dans l'eau de mer devient fluorescent une fois qu'il est remué. Les mouvements des dauphins deviennent alors féériques, ils brillent littéralement dans l'eau noire, devenant encore plus visibles et donnant à leur nage ce côté magique. J'ai essayé de capter ces instants sur vidéo mais les caméras n'ont pas d'objectifs aussi parfaits que l'oeil humain. Ces souvenirs resteront donc uniquement gravés dans ma mémoire et dans cette tentative de décrire ce moment par les quelques mots ci-dessus. Heureusement pour les caméras, ils sont aussi venus en journée (voir vidéo ci-dessous).
PS 2 : on part demain matin pour les îles Canaries. On devrait y être dans 5 jours. L'Atlantique nous ouvre les bras...

Navigation was beautiful. We were often accompanied by a pod of dolphins, day and night. I will make a video that speaks more than words, but in the meantime, here is an excerpt from my diary:
"Wednesday 2/11 - 1:34 AM
Night shift alone on the bridge. But I am far from being alone. Dolphins make me long visits by swimming under the bow a long time. A pale moon illuminates the night and I can see my new friends arriving in a graceful and rapid fluorescent swirls ... Then they swim under my feet in a choreography...
Music in the ears and dreams in my eyes, I smiled a lot that night, watching, fascinated, these fantastic animals.
Just 25 miles to Gibraltar and then the Atlantic ocean ...
I'm going to bed now, head full of images of green fluorescent dances, subtle ripples in the water world. I will sleep happy, knowing they play below my bed ... "
PS 1: If I speak of fluorescent colors, this is because the plankton in sea water becomes fluorescent once it is moved. Movements of dolphins become magical, they literally shine in the dark water, becoming more visible than in the day and giving to their swim a magical side. I tried to capture these moments on video but the cameras do not have objectives as perfect as the human eye. These memories will therefore only stay in my memory and in the attempt to describe that moment by the few words above. Fortunately for the cameras, they also came during the day (see video below).
PS 2: We're leaving on tomorrow morning for the Canary Islands. We should be there in 5 days. Atlantic opens its arms to us ...
